History
Round Rock was not named as such during its founding. And more surprisingly, it is not located in the area where it is now. The Brushy settlement, the original name of the town, was set up in the Brushy Creek banks by the round rock. In the 1860s, many families set up their houses and soon enough, businessmen put up stores along Brushy Creek.
The area soon flourished despite the threat of constant flooding. However, with the construction of The International and Great Northern Railroad, the town had to move to the eastern part of the land total advantage for business and employment opportunities. The old Brushy Creek became “Old Town” ever since they moved to “New Town.”
